One person killed and 12 tourists trapped after malfunction in Colorado gold mine

A mechanical issue occurred with the elevator at the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine in Cripple Creek, resulting in a severe danger to participants. The issue occurred around 500 feet below the surface. One person was killed, and four others suffered minor injuries. Eleven people, including two children, were rescued. Rescuers are working to get the elevator back online.
