Olympic athlete Rebecca Cheptegei dies after petrol attack

Rebecca Cheptegei, a 33-year-old Ugandan Olympic athlete, died four days after being set on fire by her boyfriend in Kenya. The incident occurred when her boyfriend poured petrol on her and set her ablaze, resulting in extensive burns to her body. According to reports, Cheptegei suffered burns to 80% of her body. The Uganda Olympic Committee President described the incident as a "cowardly and senseless act" that led to the loss of a great athlete. An investigation is underway, and Cheptegei was receiving treatment at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret city before her passing.
