Oldest Known Tablet Inscribed with the Ten Commandments Sells for $5 Million at Auction
The Ten Commandments tablet sold for $5.04 million to an anonymous buyer. The buyer intends to donate the artifact to an Israeli institution. The tablet dates back to the Late Roman-Byzantine era, around 1,500 years ago. The presale estimate was $1-$2 million, but the final price exceeded it. The tablet is a 52kg marble slab.
