North Korea's Envoy in Cuba Defects to South, Seoul Says
A high-ranking North Korean diplomat, identified as Ri Il-gyu, has defected to South Korea. According to reports, Ri was a counselor responsible for political affairs at the North Korean embassy in Cuba and is believed to be the highest-ranking diplomat to defect since 2016. He fled with his wife and children in November last year.
