North Korea accused of dropping trash and excrement on South Korea via balloons

North Korea has been accused of sending hundreds of balloons carrying trash across the border into South Korea, with reports suggesting that around 260 balloons were launched from Tuesday to Wednesday. The move is seen as a form of retaliation by North Korea against the use of similar balloons by South Korea in the past. According to experts, the balloon campaign is intended to create divisions within South Korean society over its conservative government's hardline stance on North Korea.

South Korea's military has reported detecting over 90 unidentified objects, later confirmed to be balloons, near the border with North Korea. The balloons are believed to have been launched from North Korea and some have landed on the ground while others remain in the air. According to reports, the balloons were loaded with rubbish and feces, which is a response by North Korea to South Korean propaganda campaigns using similar methods.
