North Korea Resumes Balloon Campaign Against South Korea with Fresh Cargo of Trash

North Korea has launched hundreds of balloons carrying trash and propaganda materials towards South Korea, prompting a response from Seoul. The joint chiefs of staff advised the public to avoid touching the balloons if spotted and report them to authorities. This is the third time since late May that North Korea has sent such balloons, with over 300 being released on Saturday alone. In response, South Korea will begin loudspeaker broadcasts directed at North Korea starting Sunday. The country has also suspended a 2018 tension-easing agreement with North Korea, allowing it to resume live-fire military exercises. The president's office stated that the responsibility for escalating tensions between the two Koreas lies entirely with North Korea.
