Nigeria's Power Grid Shut Down Amid Indefinite Strike by Unions

Nigeria's national electrical grid has been shut down, disrupting flights across the country, following a strike by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC). The strike is the fourth embarked upon by the unions, who are demanding an increase in the minimum wage from N30,000 to N494,000 per month. According to reports, union members prevented operators from working at power control rooms and shut down at least six substations, resulting in millions of Nigerians being left without electricity. The strike has also led to the cancellation of flights at Nigeria's busiest airport in Lagos, with Ibom Air and United Nigeria suspending operations until further notice.
