Nawaf Salam named as Lebanon's prime minister-designate
Nawaf Salam, a prominent diplomat and international jurist, has been appointed as the new prime minister of Lebanon. The appointment was made by President Joseph Aoun, following a majority vote in parliament. Salam, who is also the head of the International Court of Justice, has gained backing from Christian and Druze factions, as well as prominent Sunni Muslim lawmakers, including allies of the Hezbollah militant group.
