Mussolini's Wartime Bunker Reopens for Public Viewing in Rome
According to various articles, Benito Mussolini and his fascist regime constructed three underground structures at Villa Torlonia in Rome between 1940 and 1941 for the purpose of protecting him and his family from aerial threats during World War II. The first shelter was created by adapting an old wine cellar on the property, while the second shelter was built in the basement of the Casino Nobile. Both shelters were completed in 1940.
