Musk introduces new rule for federal workers requiring them to justify their jobs to avoid dismissal

Elon Musk posted on X that federal employees would receive an email requesting them to report their productivity for the previous week. Musk stated that failure to respond would be taken as a resignation.
No employee is obligated to report their activities outside of their Department chain of command.
FBI personnel may have received an email from OPM requesting information.
As part of the Trump administration's commitment to an efficient and accountable federal workforce, OPM is asking employees to provide a brief summary of what they did last week by the end of Monday, CC'ing their manager.
If I could say one thing to Elon Musk, it's, 'Please put a dose of compassion in this,'
These are real people. These are real lives. These are mortgages. It's a false narrative to say we have to cut and you have to be cruel to do it as well. We can do both.
We're removing all of the unnecessary, incompetent and corrupt bureaucrats from the federal workforce.
We want to make government smaller, more efficient.
We love Elon, don't we? He's a character.
DOGE and Elon are doing great work. Historic. We are happy to participate.
People said, what official position does he have? I said, 'Patriot'.
Consistent with President Donald Trump's instructions, all federal employees will shortly receive an email requesting to understand what they got done last week.
To be clear, the bar is very low here. An email with some bullet points that make any sense at all is acceptable! Should take less than 5 mins to write.
EXTREMELY troubling that some parts of government think this is TOO MUCH!! What is wrong with them??
The reason this matters is that a significant number of people who are supposed to be working for the government are doing so little work that they are not checking their email at all! In some cases, we believe non-existent people or the identities of dead people are being used to collect paychecks. In other words, there is outright fraud.
