Gangs in Haiti
More than 53,000 people have fled Haiti's capital due to rampant gang violence
Approximately 53,125 people left Port-au-Prince, Haiti between March 8 and March 27, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The majority of these displaced individuals have headed towards the rural southern region of Haiti. This surge in migration has raised concerns among U.N. officials as the southern region already hosts over 116,000 Haitians who previously fled Port-au-Prince.
