More than 100 Palestinians killed in new phase of Gaza offensive
The Israeli military has launched a major offensive in Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths of over 100 people. The offensive, which was launched as part of the "initial stages" of a fresh attack on the Gaza Strip, involved extensive airstrikes and the mobilization of forces to seize strategic areas in the territory. This development comes after US President Donald Trump concluded his visit to the region without securing a ceasefire deal. The Israeli military stated that they had launched extensive attacks as part of their operation, which they named "Operation Gideon's Chariots". The strikes have resulted in significant civilian casualties, with entire extended families being killed in the attacks. The situation in Gaza is described as "catastrophic" with nearly half a million people facing hunger due to a blockade imposed by Israel. In return for the release of hostages held by Hamas, Israel is under pressure to lift the aid blockade in Gaza. However, it is unclear whether this will happen as the situation continues to deteriorate.
