Military Rule Extended in Burkina Faso for Five Years

The transition period in Burkina Faso is set to last for 60 months from July 2, 2024, according to Colonel Moussa Diallo. This announcement comes as the country's military regime, which has been in power since 2022 after two coups, begins an initial national dialogue. The duration of the transition was confirmed by Colonel Diallo, who also stated that coup leader and acting President Ibrahim Traore is eligible to run in any elections during this period.
