King's Horses Run Amok
Military Horses Escape During Birthday-Parade Practice in London
On April 24, five military horses from the Household Cavalry bolted during routine exercises near Buckingham Palace due to noise from a nearby building site. The horses became alarmed by the sound of concrete falling off a moving walkway, causing them to run loose through central London. Four soldiers were thrown off and three were hospitalized with injuries.
According to reports, two horses were filmed racing down Aldwych, one of which collided with several cars outside Clermont hotel on Buckingham Palace Road, Victoria. The incident occurred during an extended exercise for an upcoming military parade, which was being conducted in preparation for the monarch's birthday celebrations.
It's worth noting that some reports suggest seven horses were involved in the incident, while others mention only five. However, all accounts agree on the cause of the horses' sudden flight and the resulting injuries to the soldiers.
