Massive Fire Destroys Major Secondhand Market in Ghana

A devastating fire broke out at the Kantamanto Market in Accra, Ghana on January 1st, starting at 10pm. The blaze, which may have been sparked by faulty electrical connections, destroyed thousands of traders' stalls and an estimated two-thirds of the market's goods, valued in the millions of Ghanaian cedi. Preliminary investigations suggest that electrical connections were the probable cause of the fire, which also consumed vast sections of the market, including the largest used clothes market in Ghana.
