Marseille Teenager Fatally Assaulted with Multiple Stab Wounds, Then Set on Fire in Suspected Drug-Related Violence

Recent violence in Marseille, France has been attributed to a turf war between various clans for control of the highly profitable drug market, resulting in the deaths of multiple young individuals. A 36-year-old football player, Nessim Ramdane, was shot and killed on Friday, while a 15-year-old boy was stabbed 50 times and burned alive earlier in the week. Marseille prosecutor Nicolas Bessone has described both cases as ones of "unprecedented savagery".
