Macron to Address French Nation after Barnier Resigns

French President Emmanuel Macron will address the nation on Thursday night, following the resignation of Prime Minister Michel Barnier. Barnier resigned after losing a confidence vote in parliament on Wednesday night. Macron has asked Barnier and his government to continue in a caretaker capacity until the appointment of a new government. Names for a new prime minister are being considered, including Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu, Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau, and centrist former presidential candidate François Bayrou.
