MP Returns to Parliament After Undergoing Quadruple Amputation

Craig Mackinlay, the Conservative MP for South Thanet, made a remarkable return to the House of Commons after recovering from sepsis, which led to the loss of all four limbs. He was welcomed by Sir Lindsay Hoyle and received a standing ovation from his peers. According to Mackinlay's account, he fell ill on September 28, 2023, and within 30 minutes, his entire body turned blue due to sepsis, an extreme response to infection. He was rushed to the hospital, spent 16 days in an induced coma, and underwent a quadruple amputation in December. His wife Kati was told that his chances of survival were only five percent.
