M23 Rebels Capture Eastern DR Congo City of Goma

Violence on the streets has intensified, with residents describing ongoing gunfire and mortar fire. At least 100 people have been killed and over 1,000 wounded in the past three days, with hospitals struggling to cope with the influx of patients suffering from gunshot and shrapnel wounds.

The rebels have reportedly taken control of significant parts of the city, although it is unclear how much of Goma is currently under their control.
