Listeria Outbreak

Listeria Outbreak Linked to Nondairy Products Claims Two Lives in Canada

A listeriosis outbreak linked to plant-based milk products has resulted in two deaths and at least 12 lab-confirmed cases in Canada. The affected products are Silk and Great Value brand drinks made from nuts, oats, cashews, and coconuts, which were recalled due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. The recalled products have a product code of 78-25 and specific best-before dates. Laboratory tests have confirmed that at least 10 additional infections, mostly affecting residents of Ontario, are linked to the outbreak. Silk, owned by Danone, stated that the drinks were manufactured in a third-party facility.
