LeBron James becomes first player in NBA history to score 40,000 points
LeBron James made history by becoming the NBA's all-time leading scorer in a home game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on February 7, 2022. He surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record of 38,387 points during this game. Later in the season, James also became the first NBA player to score 39,000 and then 40,000 career points. This achievement was recognized by Nikola Jokic, who scored 35 points in a victory over the Lakers, where he congratulated James on the milestone. The milestone point for James was scored using a spin move against Michael Porter Jr. of the Denver Nuggets.
