Le Pen Found Guilty of Misusing EU Funds and Barred from Public Office

Marine Le Pen has been convicted of embezzlement and banned from running for public office for five years by a French court. The conviction is related to the misuse of European Parliament funds, with the total amount embezzled differing slightly between articles, ranging from over €3 million to €4 million. Le Pen was also handed a four-year prison sentence with two years suspended, and a 100,000 euro fine.
