King Charles III Makes First Public Appearance Since Cancer Diagnosis at Easter Service

King Charles III attended an Easter service at Windsor Castle on March 31, 2023. The service was held at St. George's Chapel, a 14th-century building on the grounds of Windsor Castle. Charles was accompanied by his wife, Queen Camilla, and other members of the royal family. This marked his first major public outing since announcing his cancer diagnosis in early February. Anne Hoyle, who traveled from Wales to attend the service, mentioned that she did not want to discuss the king's illness but instead wanted to lighten the mood. The service was smaller than usual due to Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, also undergoing cancer treatment and being unable to attend. Previously, Queen Camilla represented the king at the Royal Maundy Service at Worcester Cathedral. Charles emphasized the importance of serving and caring for one another during his absence.
