Israeli forces intensify bombardment of Rafah neighborhood in Gaza Strip

There have been reports of intensified Israeli bombardments in Rafah, a city in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, near the border with Egypt. According to different sources, about 1.3 million to 1.5 million people are estimated to be residing in the enclave. Israeli war cabinet member Benny Gantz has stated that there are "promising early signs of progress" in the ongoing conflict. The Israeli military has also reportedly increased operations in Khan Younis, a city just north of Rafah.
