Israeli army to remain in some West Bank refugee camps for the coming year

A military campaign, dubbed "Operation Iron Wall", was launched in the northern West Bank in January, aiming to suppress militancy in the region. The operation has been accompanied by increased troop deployments, including a tank division in the city of Jenin. In response, residents of three refugee camps in Jenin, Tulkarem, and Nur Shams have been evacuated, with approximately 40,000 Palestinians forced to leave their homes. According to Defense Minister Israel Katz, the military will remain in the refugee camps for the coming year, marking a significant escalation of Israel's military presence in the West Bank.
