Israel-Lebanese Hezbollah Conflict
Israel kills top Hezbollah commander in Beirut strike
An Israeli airstrike on a Hezbollah stronghold in southern Beirut resulted in the deaths of at least 31 people, including three children and seven women. The strike targeted commanders of Hezbollah's elite Radwan Force, with Israel claiming a second senior commander was among the 16 fighters killed. The Lebanese health ministry confirmed the death toll, initially believed to be lower at 14, including a senior Hezbollah leader.
Israeli airstrikes hit a residential area in southern Beirut, killing at least eight people and wounding 59 others. The target was reportedly Ibrahim Aqil, a top Hezbollah military leader, who was designated as a global terrorist by the US justice department. The strike was part of a larger escalation of violence between Israel and Hezbollah, with Israeli airstrikes hitting over 100 sites in southern Lebanon overnight. The US offered a $7 million reward for information on Aqil.
