Israel-Palestine Conflict
Israel investigating reports of Hamas military commander's death in Gaza strike
According to multiple reports, Marwan Issa is believed to be the highest-ranking Hamas official killed during the more than five-month war between Israel and Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip. The exact details of his death are still being confirmed, but Israeli Army Radio reported that he was among the five people killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Al-Nusseirat refugee camp in central Gaza on Saturday night. Haaretz also reported that Israel was checking if the fatalities included Issa, who had previously been on Israel's most wanted list alongside Mohammed Deif, commander of the Izz el-Deen al-Qassam Brigades. If confirmed, Issa's death would mark a significant loss for Hamas.
