Israel ends deadly West Bank raid amid surge in violence

There have been multiple incidents of violence in the occupied Palestinian territories, specifically in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, over the past few days. The latest bombardments in Gaza came as lawmakers in Israel's top ally approved US$13 billion in new military aid for Israel, despite global criticism over the death toll. In the West Bank, residents of al-Mughayyer village described Israeli settlers as more numerous and heavily armed than in previous raids, with soldiers allegedly doing little to stop attacks on Palestinians. In the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces have carried out near-daily air raids on Rafah, where over half of its population has sought refuge from fighting elsewhere. At least 14 people were killed during an IDF operation at Nur al-Shams refugee camp in the West Bank, and videos captured by residents showed a bulldozer destroying a building as IDF vehicles left the camp after conducting a raid for over 24 hours.
