Israel Strikes Yemen's Hodeidah Port City

The recent conflict between Israel and the Iran-aligned Houthi movement in Yemen has escalated with multiple missile attacks on both sides. The Houthis claimed to have fired several missiles at the Israeli Red Sea city of Eilat, following a weekend of increased tensions that began with a drone strike on Tel Aviv. Israel attributed the attack to a reengineered drone that flew 500 kilometers longer than its known range.

Israeli fighter jets conducted airstrikes on Houthi military targets in the area of Hodeidah port in Yemen, resulting in at least 80 people wounded, mostly with severe burns. According to an Israeli military spokesperson, the port was used by the Houthis to receive weapons shipments from Iran. This marks the first direct attack by Israel on Yemen since the Houthis began targeting Israel. The airstrikes targeted oil facilities and a power station, causing significant damage. The attacks come after a Houthi missile strike on Tel Aviv killed one person on Friday. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that "the blood of Israeli citizens has a price," indicating the country's willingness to take action against perceived threats.
