Iranian Rapper Sentenced to Death Over Support for Mahsa Amini Protests

Toomaj Salehi was arrested in October 2022 for supporting nationwide protests. He had been detained by the morality police in Tehran. According to reports, Branch 1 of Isfahan Revolutionary Court sentenced him to death on charges of "corruption on Earth". However, his lawyer has stated that he was actually jailed for over a year and a half before receiving this verdict. The lawyer has also announced plans to appeal the decision.
