Inmates Settle Lawsuit, Permitted to Witness Solar Eclipse in New York Prisons

Lawyers for six incarcerated men at the Woodbourne Correctional Facility in upstate New York have reached a settlement with the state over a federal lawsuit filed last week. The lawsuit argued that the April 8 lockdown violated the inmates' constitutional rights to practice their faiths during a religiously significant event. The six men include a Baptist, a Muslim, two practitioners of Santeria, and an atheist.
