India under Modi

India's opposition protests arrest of Delhi chief minister before election

During a rally at Ramlila ground, leaders from the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) accused the government of using state agencies to intimidate the opposition. Separately, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition Congress party, alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was involved in match-fixing during the ongoing elections. Delhi's chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested and jailed earlier in March as part of a corruption probe into allegations of irregularities in granting liquor licenses. Kejriwal denies the charges, with his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claiming that the case is politically motivated. The government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have denied any political interference in the investigation. There seems to be conflicting information regarding the allegations of match-fixing and corruption, with each side denying wrongdoing.
