ICC prosecutor faces external investigation into sexual misconduct claims
ai generated text
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has announced an external investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct against its Chief Prosecutor, Karim Khan. Khan has denied the allegations, stating that he is aware of the investigation and will cooperate fully. The investigation will be carried out by an independent external body.
At my request, a coordination group chaired by the deputy prosecutors, acting independently and not reporting to me, has already taken responsibility for addressing all relevant issues connected to this issue internally within the office.
I welcome the opportunity to engage in this process.
It was with deep sadness that I understood reports of misconduct were to be aired publicly in relation to me.
I will be continuing all other functions as prosecutor, in line with my mandate, across situations addressed by the International Criminal Court.
