Houthis Detain 11 UN Staff Members and Aid Workers in Yemen
According to reports, eleven Yemeni employees of United Nations agencies have been detained by Houthi rebels under unclear circumstances.
The Houthis have been targeting shipping throughout the Red Sea corridor amid tensions surrounding the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip. The armed group views itself as part of an Iranian-led "axis of resistance" against Israel, the US, and the wider West. UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric has called for the unconditional release of the detained staff members.
