Hong Kong Retrocession to China

Hong Kong man sentenced for wearing seditious T-shirt

Chu Kai-pong, a 27-year-old individual, was sentenced to 14 months in prison under the new national security law for wearing a T-shirt with a protest slogan deemed capable of inciting secession. The incident occurred on June 12, the anniversary of clashes between police and pro-democracy demonstrators five years earlier. Chu was arrested at a subway station while wearing a mask with the initials "FDNOL", which is another protest slogan. He pleaded guilty to "acts with seditious intent" and faced a maximum sentence of up to seven years in prison.
