Spain Flash Floods
Heavy rains continue in Barcelona as Spain authorities search for flood victims in central and eastern regions
A severe storm system is affecting Catalonia, Spain, with torrential rain causing widespread disruptions. The storm has been linked to a similar event in the Valencia region last week, which caused catastrophic flooding and at least 217 deaths.
Catalonia's state meteorological agency has issued a red alert for parts of the region, with over 80 flights cancelled or delayed and rail services suspended. Transport Minister Oscar Puente has also suspended commuter trains in northeastern Catalonia.
The storm is expected to continue, with authorities in Barcelona warning of "extreme and continued rainfall" on the southern outskirts of the city.
