Harvey Weinstein's 2020 Rape Conviction Overturned by New York Court

New York's highest court, the Court of Appeals, has overturned Harvey Weinstein's 2020 rape conviction. The court ruled that the trial judge made an error by allowing prosecutors to introduce testimony from women who claimed Weinstein assaulted them, and further compounded the mistake by permitting Weinstein to be cross-examined on these claims. As a result, the court ordered a new trial for Weinstein, who was convicted of rape and sexual assault in February 2020 and sentenced to an additional 16 years in prison.
