Hamas reacts positively to Biden's new Gaza ceasefire proposal
In an effort to bring a permanent ceasefire to the region, President Biden has outlined a three-phase proposal from Israel. The plan involves a first phase of immediate ceasefire, followed by a second phase where Hamas and Israel would negotiate terms for a permanent end to hostilities, and finally a third phase that includes a major reconstruction plan for Gaza. Hamas has reportedly expressed a positive view of the contents of Biden's proposal, which offers a permanent ceasefire in exchange for the release of all hostages and long-term reconstruction of the devastated enclave. However, it is unclear whether Hamas will accept the deal, as President Biden has urged them to do so, stating that it is the best way to end the deadly conflict. It is worth noting that some sources suggest that Israel has also offered a comprehensive new proposal, which includes a road map to an enduring ceasefire and the release of all hostages. This proposal was reportedly transmitted by Qatar to Hamas.
The exact outline proposed by Israel, including the conditional transition from stage to stage, allows Israel to maintain these principles.
The European Union … once again resorted to the obsolete and ineffective tool of sanctions against the powerful Iran.
Israel has made their proposal. Hamas says it wants a cease-fire. This deal is an opportunity to prove whether they really mean it.
As someone who's had a lifelong commitment to Israel, as the only American president who has ever gone to Israel at a time of war, as someone who just sent the US forces to directly defend Israel when it was attacked by Iran, I ask you to take a step back, think what will happen if this moment is lost.
With a ceasefire, that aid could be safely and effectively distributed to all who need it.
It's time for this war to end and for the day after to begin.
