Greek-flagged tanker attacked by Houthis in Red Sea, appears to be leaking oil

The Sounion oil tanker, a Greek-flagged vessel, was attacked by the Iran-aligned Houthi group in the Red Sea, resulting in a fire and potential environmental catastrophe. The tanker was anchored between Yemen and Eritrea, and a European warship rescued its crew of 25. The Pentagon has warned that the tanker poses a navigational hazard and is leaking oil, with the potential to cause one of the largest ship-based oil spills in recorded history if a spill occurs. The Houthi group has been attacking ships in the Red Sea for 10 months, reportedly sinking two ships and killing at least two crew members, in support of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
