Germany closes Iranian consulates in response to execution of German-Iranian national Jamshid Sharmahd

The German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, has announced the closure of three Iranian consulates in Frankfurt, Munich, and Hamburg, while the Iranian Embassy in Berlin will remain unaffected. This decision was made in response to the execution of a German-Iranian dual citizen. German protests have been ongoing regarding the execution, with Baerbock discussing the case directly with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. Germany had previously summoned Iran's chargé d'affaires to formally object to the execution and recalled its ambassador from Iran to protest the situation.
