Germany Sends Additional Patriot Air Defense System to Ukraine

In recent weeks, Russia has conducted three large-scale airstrikes on power stations and substations in Ukraine. In response to these attacks, Germany announced its decision to deliver an additional Patriot air defense system to Ukraine. Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated, "We stand steadfast on the side of Ukraine." Russian forces have reportedly captured a village near Avdiivka in Ukraine's Donetsk region. The German government's provision of this system comes as Kyiv heavily relies on Western Patriot systems due to its lack of advanced air defense capabilities of its own. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius expressed concern over the Russian attacks, stating, "Russian terror against Ukrainian cities and the country's infrastructure is causing immeasurable suffering." This will be the third Patriot system that Berlin has supplied to Kyiv.
