Germany Bans Far-Right Magazine Linked to AfD
Germany's interior ministry has banned the right-wing magazine Compact. The publication, founded in 2010 by Jürgen Elsässer, frequently published articles characterizing Germany's political system as a malign dictatorship and embracing fringe conspiracy theories and antisemitic tropes. Elsässer viewed Compact as "opposition media" aimed at overthrowing the regime. In response to the ban, police raided properties and apartments in four German regions, with Interior Minister Nancy Faeser describing Compact as "a central mouthpiece of the right-wing extremist scene."
