German authorities bring trial against alleged far-right conspirators accused of planning a domestic coup
German authorities have charged 26 suspected members of the Reichsbürger movement and one Russian national accused of supporting it, following raids last year. The suspects are alleged to have participated in the "military arm" of the organization led by Prince Heinrich XIII Reuss, a minor aristocrat and businessman. The charges include preparation for an act of high treason. A group of nine individuals, identified as the "military wing," will be the first to go on trial in Stuttgart on terrorism charges. According to reports, Prince Reuss founded the group with the intention of violently overthrowing the state order, with plans to declare himself provisional head of a new German state if the coup was successful. This case is considered one of the most high-profile recent instances of far-right violence.
We will continue our tough approach until we have fully exposed and dismantled militant 'Reichsbuerger' structures.
