Gaza population shrinks by 6% since start of conflict statistics office confirms

A new report from the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) states that the population of Gaza has dropped by 6% in 2024, resulting in around 160,000 fewer people. This decline is attributed to the exodus of approximately 100,000 Palestinians from the region since the war's start. The PCBS report also highlights the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, with 60,000 pregnant women facing inadequate healthcare and 96% of the population experiencing high levels of food insecurity.
