2024 French General Elections
French Left Forms "Popular Front" to Contest Snap Election and Challenge Macron Policies
French President Emmanuel Macron has called for snap legislative elections on June 30 with a second round on July 7. The move comes after Marine Le Pen's far-right National Rally (RN) won a significant victory in the European elections, garnering more than double the number of votes of Macron's centrist alliance. In response, France's four main left-wing parties - Socialist Party, Greens, Communists, and France Unbowed (LFI) - have agreed to form a "New Popular Front" (NPF) to contest the election on a common platform.
