Omar bin Laden, the 43-year-old son of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, was living in the Normandy region of France with his British wife, Zaina al-Sabah bin Laden. In 2023, authorities revoked his residency permit for two years, citing social media posts made by him that allegedly glorified terrorism. This decision led to his expulsion from France, with a two-year ban on his re-entry into the country. Omar bin Laden's social media posts were reportedly made to mark the anniversary of his father's death. He had appealed against the expulsion order, but was unsuccessful.
