Former Ukrainian Presidential Aide Shot Dead in Madrid

The assassination of Andrii Portnov, a 51-year-old Ukrainian politician, occurred on Wednesday outside the gates of the American School of Madrid in the suburb of Pozuelo de Alaracon. According to police sources, multiple assailants approached Portnov as he prepared to enter his vehicle, a black Mercedes-Benz, and shot him several times in the head and body. Portnov, who served as a senior aide to Ukraine's former President Viktor Yanukovych, was fatally shot and his body was left at the scene. The attackers then fled into a nearby wooded area. No arrests have been made yet.
