Five Chinese Nationals and Local Driver Killed in Suicide Attack in Pakistan

A suicide bomber attacked a convoy of Chinese nationals in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, specifically in the district of Shangla. The attack resulted in the death of five Chinese nationals and one Pakistani driver. The vehicle carrying the Chinese nationals fell into a gorge after the blast, leaving at least two bodies badly burnt. According to the Pakistani foreign ministry and military, this attack was orchestrated by enemies of Pakistan-China friendship and was a "conscious effort" to retard progress. Certain foreign elements are believed to be complicit in aiding and abetting terrorism. The victims were construction workers and engineers heading to the Dasu Dam, an area where Pakistani Taliban have increased attacks in recent years.
