Finland finds drag marks on Baltic seabed after cable damage

The Cook Islands-registered oil tanker Eagle S has been detained and sailed into Finnish waters following a boarding by Finnish police and coastguard officials. Finnish investigators have found a seabed trail stretching almost 100km around the site of an underwater electricity cable that was damaged on December 25, 2022. The trail is believed to be from the anchor of the Eagle S, which is suspected of being part of Russia's shadow fleet of fuel tankers. The incident has heightened concerns about potential sabotage.
