Filmsmaker Roman Polanski Faces Defamation Trial in France over Alleged Remarks against Actor

Roman Polanski, aged 90, is currently on trial in France for defamation claims made by Charlotte Lewis, 56. Lewis alleges that Polanski sexually abused her when she was a teenager in 1977, an incident for which Polanski fled the United States to Europe in 1978 to avoid prosecution. In court, Lewis stated that Polanski's attempts to discredit her nearly destroyed her life. Polanski has denied these allegations in a 2019 interview with Paris Match.
